Brand guide
We-Vibe
The Canadian brand that invented the wearable couples' vibrator.
What we like
- Pioneer and still the reference point for wearable couples' toys
- App works across a whole ecosystem of toys
- Strong build quality and body-safe silicone
- Backed by a large group with good retail availability
Watch out for
- Premium prices across most of the range
- Couples' toys don't fit every body, so check the adjustable models
- App features have a learning curve
Who We-Vibe is
We-Vibe was started in Ottawa, Canada by Bruce and Melody Murison, whose company Standard Innovation launched the first We-Vibe couples’ vibrator in 2008. The idea was a toy designed to be worn during penetrative sex, stimulating both partners at once. It created a category that many brands have copied since.
In 2018, We-Vibe’s parent merged with Germany’s Womanizer group to form WOW Tech Group. WOW Tech then combined with UK retailer Lovehoney in 2021, so We-Vibe now sits in the same group as Womanizer and Arcwave.
What We-Vibe is known for
- Couples’ toys. Chorus and Sync are still the default recommendation for a wearable couples’ vibrator.
- App control. The We-Vibe app (formerly We-Connect) lets a partner control the toy nearby or long-distance.
- Privacy lessons learned. In 2017 the company settled a North American class action over how its app collected usage data. It is one of the reasons app privacy is now taken more seriously across the industry. Read the current privacy policy if that matters to you.
Who should buy We-Vibe
Couples who want a hands-free toy during sex, long-distance partners and anyone who wants a polished app experience. The Tango bullet is also a strong pick on its own.
Who might skip it
If you want suction-style clitoral stimulation, look at Womanizer instead. If you want lots of app-controlled toys on a smaller budget, compare with Lovense.
Buying tips
- With wearable couples’ toys, fit matters more than features. Adjustable models like Sync are more forgiving.
- Check which generation you are buying. Older models are often discounted, and the differences can be meaningful (or not).
Our verdict
If you want a toy you can both feel during sex, We-Vibe is where to start. It’s not cheap, but this is the category it invented and still leads.
